Es Broll des Buscastell delimited and protected.
Es Broll des Buscastell may be the best-known spring in Eivissa. It is a natural spring which, like many others in the Balearics, originates in a fault that contacts permeable materials through which the water circulates with impermeable materials that cut off the circulation. Consequently, the present-day fault acts as a conducting channel that propitiates the exit of the water towards a specific zone.
In the case of Es Broll des Buscastell, the permeable materials are calcareous, while the impermeable materials correspond to marls that predominate in the valley.

This natural spring has been known since ancient times. In fact, it was during the Muslim occupation when this natural resource was first exploited systematically, with the construction of a system of irrigation channels that are still very useful today for the local agriculture, thanks to the maintenance and alterations carried out. The nearby village of Santa Agnès is the one which traditionally has most benefited from the water of the spring.
The flow of the spring can vary between 12,000 litres/hour in summer and 60,000 litres/hour in rainy periods.
The Torrent des Buscastell passes through the valley and is partly fed by Es Broll.
