This is a suggested route to help you recognise the features that characterise the geology of the area around La Vall or Algaiarens. The area displays a geological history that was initially marked by the presence of large rivers, and where the rocks comprising it were later criss-crossed by dikes of volcanic rocks. Later on, the action of the rivers was cancelled out by a rise in sea level that radically changed sedimentation conditions in the area.
The route highlights the factors that determined the formation of these rocks, the subsequent erosion of some of them that led to the creation of highly spectacular sediments, together with the more recent processes that have formed the geology of the area. The route can be completed with a visit to Cala Morell.
