Paleogene of the Peguera coast

  General data

The coastal sector of Peguera is one of the places that best represent the Paleogene, the geological period which inaugurates the era of the Cenozoic. In Peguera there are very representative outcrops of lagunar and fluvial sediments of the Eocene-Oligocene, which represent an interval of between approximately 40 and 30 Ma. Occasionally these materials are covered by much more recent dunes and fossil beaches from the Pleistocene, a little more than 100,000 years old.
